Our standard
We build the Pondra website and the Pondra assistant to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. That is the standard the U.S. Department of Justice set for public schools’ websites and apps under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the one Section 508 points to. Where we can, we also follow WCAG 2.2.
This website
We check this site with automated tools and by hand. It is built to:
- work with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline on every link and button;
- use real headings, labels and landmarks so screen readers can navigate it;
- meet AA color contrast for text;
- stay usable when zoomed to 200% and on small screens;
- turn off scrolling and typing animations when your device asks for reduced motion.
The animated chat examples on the home page are illustrations. Their text is also available as plain text in our full site text.
The Pondra assistant
Before Pondra is used in classrooms, we test it against WCAG 2.1 AA with:
- keyboard-only use and screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA);
- browser zoom and text resizing;
- automated checks on every release.
Schools can request our Accessibility Conformance Report (VPAT 2.5) by emailing hello@pondra.ai.
Tell us about a barrier
If something on our site or in Pondra is hard to use, email hello@pondra.ai with the page or feature and what happened. We reply within 5 business days, and we can provide any information on this site in another format on request.
